Kalaya Children's Centre - 3 stage development

This project  for Kalaya Children's Centre was a three stage development undertaken for DPTI  in Adelaide South Australia. The stages were -

Stage 1 - Community house, playground and landscaping

  • Community house for the use of parents and the indigenous community.

  • Included kitchenette, toilet facilities and storage areas.

  • Build a playground for under 5 year old children with swings, slide, sand pit, bike tracks, dig patch, stage and cubby house.

  • Landscaping with concrete paths, paving, art work and gardens.


Stage 2 - Children’s Centre redevelopment, playground and landscaping

  • Internally strip the existing building of all services, internal walls, and ceilings.

  • Enclose existing courtyard and reroof entire building.

  • Extend building to accommodate new reception, sleep room, teacher prep office and baby change toilets.

  • Included a fully equipped kitchen, sleep rooms and activity spaces.

  • Landscaping with concrete paths, paving, art work and gardens.

 

Stage 3 - Car park and fencing

  • New 6 vehicle car park was built

  • Storage sheds and perimeter fencing were completed

 

Works also including structural remediation of the aged timber truss roof framing which needed substantial works to improve the integrity of the roof.
