Brimblecombe Builders takes a certain pride in being able to maintain the historical significance of buildings, whilst extending the structural and functional attributes needed in a contemporary construction business.
Refurbishing and heritage restoration of the old Unley Police Station and Courthouse in Adelaide in South Australia for St John Ambulance Association, was such a project. To maintain the integrity of these historical structures, precision demolition was required to maintain the fabric of the original structures.
Complete internal refurbishment of the building was required, including decorative ceilings with feature ceiling roses and detailed cornices reflected the heritage importance. Detailed joinery, refurbishing the timber floors and hard plaster rendering have brought this structure back to life. Brimblecombe Builders, with knowledge of trades going back more than eighty years, were able to ensure that the materials used were in keeping with the age of the structure, thus showing their understanding of heritage restoration in Adelaide and all it involves..
The new structures required for the site had to be sympathetic to the historical significance of the existing buildings. The project included all civil infrastructure and associated civil works.
Given a new lease of life with Brimblecombe's heritage restoration, this building continues to be a beacon of Civic Pride and contributes to the community or Unley.
